COUNTING THE COST?

Part 3

Well, we have looked at what it truly means to be a disciple. It means to forsake everything that would keep you from allowing Jesus to be the center of your life.

You may ask yourself, “What are the benefits of salvation?” Great question!  Let us look at some.

The first benefit of salvation is Eternal Life. How would you describe eternal life? How about this:  If a pelican would come each day to the ocean and fill his beak with water and then put the water on the sand, how long would it take him to drain the ocean?  Right!  It would never happen. The Bible tells us that God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son (Jesus), that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Another benefit Jesus said: “If ye continue in my word, then are you my disciple indeed; and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.”

You are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. You are dead to sin but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Sin no longer has dominion over you; you are not under the law but under grace. You no longer live in the flesh, but in the Spirit.  You are conformed to the image of His Son. You are justified and also glorified.  We are adopted into God’s family. We are blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. We are sanctified wholly and our soul and body are preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people. You and I are called out of darkness and we are called into His marvelous light.

When we are in Christ, we are a new creature.  Old things are passed way, behold all things have become new.

My friend, are you ready to start anew and follow Christ?  Jesus is the answer.  There is no one like Him.  There is hope for your future declares the Lord.

Father, all that I am and ever hope to be, I owe it all to you. Help me to truly understand who I am in you.  In Jesus’ name.
