WHY DID IT HAPPEN TO ME?
Part 2

 

Definition of Sin:  Sin is anything contrary to the character of God. Sin is missing the right mark and hitting the wrong mark.

Let’s see how sin began….One day God said to man, “Adam, of every tree of the garden you may freely eat, but the tree of the knowledge of good and  evil, you shall not eat of it, for in the day you do, you shall surely die.” 

Then we know that God said it’s not good for man to be alone, so He created a woman. Adam and Eve only knew goodness. They walked with God and were obedient to Him.

Now one day Eve was in the garden and a serpent was there (the devil). He questioned Eve.  “Hath God said you shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”  (As a side note to this, we know Eve was not with Adam when God explained it, so she must have received her information from Adam). Eve said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden, but of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God said, you shall not eat, neither shall you touch it, or you will die.”  (Of course, God did not saying anything about touching the tree). Then the serpent said, “You shall not die, for God knows when you eat thereof your eyes will be open, and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”

Well, we know that she ate, and so did Adam. Because of this disobedient act, sin came into the world.

Let me ask you a question. What letter is in the middle of sin?  You are correct….“I.” Sin is doing what I want, when I want. I will get my way, no matter whom I hurt.  We will look at this in more detail in the next lesson.

Father, I ask you to help me see my sin. The sin I cause on others, myself and most of all You. Help me to confess them and with your help to live differently. In Jesus’ name.
